Game of Thrones Season 5: Has Filming Begun?

Game of Thrones Season 4 may have just ended last month, but there’s no rest for the wicked (which is pretty much everyone on this show) as reports are coming in that filming for Season 5 has already begun.

Winter Is Coming reports that “GOT” filming signs have been spotted in Northern Ireland at Scrabo Tower in County Down, with rumors of filming signs also being spotted in the towns of Toome and Carryduff.

Scrabo Tower is a turreted tower built in 1857 and stands 125 feet tall. Due to the tower’s appearance, many fans are excitedly theorizing that it could stand in for the famed Tower of Joy from the A Song of Ice and Fire books, which is the spot where Robert’s Rebellion effectively reached its conclusion. While the prospect of this seems awesome, it also appears unlikely, since Sean Bean has not been contacted by the show about filming any flashback scenes.

Further evidence that filming is already underway for Season 5 comes from the Twitter account of Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on the show. She tweeted: “Removing jewellery and cutting off festival bands can only mean one thing. #GoT5,” along with a photo of the plethora of adornments removed from her wrists and hands.
