The Walking Dead Season 5 Filming Spoilers: Terminus Letters Are Gone — Why?

Little filming details keep coming out every day during The Walking Dead Season 5 production. There’s a lot of stuff currently happening away from Terminus, even though Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) noted yesterday (Memorial Day) that they weren’t quite done with Episode 2.

Are they already free of Terminus and done with it as a filming location?

There was a ton of Terminus activity in the first couple of weeks of filming (which started May 5), including charred bodies and whatnot. We thought that might be tied to a Terminus history/origin story, and it still may be, but maybe the explosions heard were tied to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company getting free. The latest filming spoilers have shown the Terminus/Team Prison actors in other locations, including spots filming today in Griffin, GA.

The Terminus location is in the Mechanicsville area of Atlanta, and on May 24 The Spoiling Dead Fans updated, “The letters at Terminus have been covered up or removed.”

Now why would they do that? Is it because they are done filming at Terminus, at least from the outside (they could use other locations for interior shots) or is it part of a flashback from before Terminus was Terminus? It’s only Episode 2, so to be completely done with Terminus would be a surprise, but TWD does love to surprise us. Expect the unexpected!

A lot of current action seems to be taking place in Griffin, which is a bit south of the city of Atlanta itself, but close to Senoia, where a lot of TWD is filmed. Maybe they are just taking the Terminus show on the road, with Gareth (Andrew J. West) and company following Rick and others in a car chase with a showdown at that house that may or may not be connected to Father Gabriel and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney).

Do you think covering up or removing the Terminus letters hints to a completion of that storyline, or is there more to it than that?

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
