The Walking Dead Season 5 Filming Updates: What’s Happening on Set?

The Walking Dead Season 5 officially started filming on Monday, May 5 in Georgia. The actors all appear to be present, including the Team Prisoners who have yet to arrive (and may never arrive?) at Terminus: Tyreese (Chad Coleman), Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney).

What’s going on during filming? Casual fans may be content to wait for official Season 5 promos and intel to be released, or just busy themselves with other things until the new season premieres in October, but superfans need to know everything that’s happening the second it’s happening. We’re rabid that way!

If you need to know stuff right away, there are some places ready to help you out.

The Spoiling Dead Fans has been sharing daily updates, including photos from the set. It’s mostly Terminus prep work at this point, but it’s a visual to keep you going. Other superfans also share photos and other information they've come across from cast members in the area.

There are also good spoiler/speculation forums out there, like Spoil the Dead, which has detailed filming update threads, and photos of fans meeting with the cast as they head to the set.

At this point, filming is happening at Raleigh Studios Atlanta in Senoia, GA, and the Terminus location in the Mechanicsville area of ATL, but the season is meant to visit multiple locations, so that will change.

Speaking of locations, the site Walking Dead Locations is a great resource for where things are filmed, although it looks like their last update was in mid-April. Hopefully that will change soon, but they do have a lot of details about the Terminus location from the end of Season 4, so maybe they figure there's not a lot of new intel to add about it at this point.

There are plenty of places to get TWD fan scoop — including Reddit, which can steal your life — but you can just come back here to us for updates when anything major (or minor) happens, since we like to compile intel, then process it into wild speculation (that may or may not pan out).

So go forth and sleuth — but keep in touch!

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
