Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) death is kind of last season, but all signs point to this witch-turned-anchor permanently dying with the disintegration of the Other Side. Even Bonnie thinks she’s a goner. In the last episode, we were privy to her conversation with Liv, asking if there was any way to prevent her own death. Liv did not seem hopeful. Not to mention that Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) told TV Guidethat “it will be Damon's big moment with another lady in Mystic Falls that will have people talking after the finale airs.” Is he there when Bonnie potentially bites it? On the upside, the synopsis for the Season 5 finale tells us: “As conditions on the Other Side worsen, Bonnie takes the opportunity to settle an old score.” If she’s going to go out, she might as well take someone she hates with her.
Tyler (Michael Trevino) has been having a pretty rough season. He broke up with Caroline (Candice Accola), got schooled by Klaus, and is now potentially forever possessed by a Traveler named Julian. Major bummers all around. But will it get worse? As in: Tyler’s death worse? It certainly seems possible. Not only is Tyler a major enough character to fit the criteria, but he’s a minor enough character that his death wouldn’t completely devastate the show. There’s also this excerpt from the synopsis for the season’ penultimate episode: “Caroline is witness to an unthinkable act of violence by one of the Travelers.” Does Tyler’s Passenger kill both himself and Tyler?
We hadn’t seen Sheriff Forbes in forever until she started popping up in the last few episodes for random tasks like giving Damon a police file or getting possessed (and then de-possessed) by a Traveler. It’s almost as if the show is reminding us just how much we love her (as if we needed the reminder) to make her impending death that much more emotional. We know from the season finale synopsis that not only with Liz be in the episode, but it is her “new information” that prompts Damon to come up with a “dangerous plan.” Said plan results in “a massive explosion in Mystic Falls” that leaves people “caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair." We hate to say it, but we think Sheriff Forbes might be one of the sacrifices in question.
