Walking Dead Season 5 Finale Sneak Peek: Maggie Pleads For Rick’s Life (VIDEO)

The 90-minute Season 5 finale of The Walking Dead is next week, and over the course of the episode we’re expecting to find out how Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh) will handle Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Rick went a little crazy at the end of Episode 14 when he beat up Jessie’s (Alexandra Breckenridge) abusive husband Pete and then pulled his gun on a group of already scared Alexandria citizens.

The first sneak peek for Season 5, Episode 16: “Conquer”, below, shows Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) meeting with Deanna and Reg, effectively pleading for Rick’s life in advance of a forum meant to address and discus Rick’s recent actions.

As Maggie tells Deanna, if part of her plan includes sending Rick away, “it’s not going to work.”

“You let Rick in,” Maggie reminds Deanna. “You let all of us in. You talked to us, you decided. And now you want to put that decision on a group of very frightened people who might not have the whole story. That’s not leadership.”

“I’ll make the decision as I’ve done since the beginning,” Deanna clarifies, adding, “Rick took a gun and he pointed it at people.”

Maggie then argues that the fact that Rick didn’t pull the trigger is the important thing to note, but Reg reminds his wife that the only reason Rick stopped when he did was because Michonne (Danai Gurira) knocked him out cold.

Will Deanna decide to spare Rick or might she send him packing? Check out the full sneak peek below and tell us your thoughts in the comments!

The Walking Dead Season 5 airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
