Vampire Diaries Season 5: Five Jobs Newly Human Katherine Could Do

After being force-fed the cure for vampirism in the Season 4 finale, Katherine (Nina Dobrev) turned into a human. In Season 5, The Vampire Diaries’ wickedest female bloodsucker will find herself vulnerable to all the people she’s wronged over the centuries. Worse yet? She won’t be able to compel herself friends or material possessions. What will she do? While Damon (Ian Somerhalder) might take pity on her and give his ex a place to stay, there’s no way he’s springing for a new pair of Michael Kors pumps every time she’s sick of her shoes. That means Katherine needs a job, and we have a few suggestions.

We hear Katherine gets a cold and is not a fan. Now that she’s aging and no longer immune to disease, it might behoove her to find cures to some deadly illnesses. While she’s probably a bit behind on her chemistry and biology, fear is a powerful motivator. Maybe she could take some classes with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola).

Fitness instructor

Katherine’s nothing if not vain. She’s spent the last few centuries as a teenager and never had to worry about what drinking an entire bottle of bourbon would do to her waistline. In addition to cutting back on the drinking — the only human who could really keep up with the vampires was Alaric (Matt Davis) — she’ll have to start working out if she wants to keep the pounds off. She might as well get paid for it, though we’re sure it’ll make her miss her vamp speed.

Bloomingdale’s employee

With her impeccable taste and love of fashion, Katherine would make an ideal personal shopper at Bloomingdale’s. She might get fired for telling someone they don’t have the physique to pull off leggings, but at least she’d enjoy the employee discount while it lasted.

History teacher

Katherine’s been around a long time. During her over 500 years on this planet, she’s traveled far and wide and seen history first hand. Why not teach some of it to high schoolers? Or there’s probably an opening at Whitmore College, if someone could compel her a job.

CIA agent

Having successfully outrun Klaus (Joseph Morgan) over the years, Kat could go back to her undercover roots. She’s no stranger to false identities and cover ops. Plus she was pretty good at keeping that “I’m a vampire” thing on the down low, so you know she can keep secrets. If she can get over her fear of being injured in the line of duty, she could probably infiltrate almost anywhere.
