Right now, about 85 percent of Team Prison is trapped in a train car marked “A,” but we can only hope that sometime during Season 5 they will somehow be freed or figure out how to free themselves. Once that happens, we have to believe that at least most of them will ditch Terminus and its creepy inhabitants (assuming everyone is still alive) in favor of hitting the road. It seems only logical, right?
If we use Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics as a point of reference we know that eventually Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and much of his crew follow Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt), and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos) to Washington D.C. in search of the cure that Eugene claims to know — but we’re also aware that the show occasionally deviates from or remixes stories from the comics. So where does that leave us exactly?
Thankfully, one curious fan wrote in to AMCTV.com and asked showrunner Scott Gimple if our gang of survivors will “venture to other areas of the United States.” This was his response: “It’s entirely possible that they might, you never know. Right now they’ve found a couple different bases of operation. But they are on foot, so anything is possible.”
It sure sounds like Scott could be talking about the nation’s capitol, but his answer is vague enough that he could be referring to pretty much anywhere. Typical Gimple! The celebrated showrunner also hinted to different locations for Season 5 during his post-finale appearance on Talking Dead. “We’re looking at all the new places we’re going. It’s going to be an incredible season. It’s going to be completely different from this year,” he revealed last month.
Do you think our group will follow the comics and head to Washington D.C., or could Scott be talking about other locations which we haven’t even mentioned? Tell us your thoughts and theories below!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
