Where has he been?: Kenneth DiLaurentis has not been much of a present force on PLL. We saw him in the pilot at Ali’s funeral, and briefly in Season 3 when Hanna apologized to him for mentioning that she had seen Ali three days before his daughter’s body was discovered. Earlier this season, we learned from Mrs. DiLaurentis that she and her husband were getting a divorce. It is implied that he is living outside of Rosewood, though apparently has an apartment somewhere in town that he visits from time to time.
Why is he back?: With Mrs. D. dead and Alison back from the dead, we now know that Mr. DiLaurentis will return to Rosewood in Season 5 to look after his daughter. But how long will he stay? According to TV Line, “[Ali’s] father comes home and wants to take her with him, and she has to explore this idea: Do I really want to stay here? Should I make a clean break? That’s all part of her journey.” Sounds like Mr. D. doesn’t want to hang in Rosewood for very long. Can you really blame the guy?
Where has he been?: As you probably know, Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) has been kicking it in Ravenswood these past couple of months. The PLL characters got his own spinoff that told the tale of his battles with homicidal ghosts out for his blood in the nearby Pennsylvania town. There was also a century-long curse involved.
Why is he back?: In real life, what brought Caleb back was the cancellation of Ravenswood. We’ve yet to discover the narrative reason for Caleb’s return, though we’re guessing it might have something to do with lady love Hanna? It may also include the defeat of The Curse, given that PLL/Ravenswood Powers That Be have promised some closure for the Ravenswood crew. Caleb will be back in Season 5, Episode 5.
Why is he back?: We’re not sure exactly why Lucas is back, but we’re trying not to look a gift horse in the mouth! According to Marlene King, “Lucas will leave his bunk beds and head back to Rosewood High,” and that’s good enough for us. Lucas will be back in the Season 5 premiere.
Why is he back?: Noel is back in the Season 5 premiere, but we’re not yet sure why. Might he try to help Alison escape before the police find her? Or maybe he’s there to help her reintegrate into Rosewood society. We’re still holding out for an Ali/Noel romance. Just us?
