It’s going to take six more months for The Walking Dead Season 5 to get here, but once it does — look out.
Farmer Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his iPod will not be quietly introducing us to the idyllic side of the zombie apocalypse. Not this time. Get ready for the 16-episode Season 5 to start with some serious Terminus action, as dictated by the trapped in a train car cliffhanger of the Season 4 finale.
“I would say that these next eight episodes are going to be a little more action-heavy, with a lot of big twists,” showrunner Scott Gimple told Deadline. “Really 85% of [the Team Prison members] are together again, so it’s a pretty good guess that they’re going to remain together and that’s going to give us a whole new emotional dynamic as well. So I guess the biggest thing is prepare for a very different Walking Dead. Yet again.”
No complaints about action and twists! And we love when TWD shakes itself up and refuses to let us predict what’s coming next. Keep it up.
What about that other 15 percent of our Team Prison family, though? Are the “big twists” related to Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), Tyreese (Chad Coleman), Judith and that new sheriff in town, Beth Greene (Emily Kinney)?
Comic book writer/producer Robert Kirkman said they’d go in an “unexpected direction” when it comes to Carol and company. What does that mean? And why is everyone being so hush-hush about Beth? RK just told TheWalkingDead.com, “maybe Beth shows up to Terminus in Season 5… maybe not. I think I can say that Beth’s story is not over. We’ll see her again, maybe in Season 5, maybe not.” Maybe we’d better, buddy!
They haven’t shot any Season 5 footage yet, but the cast should be arriving in Georgia for production later this month, with filming in full speed in May. What big twists do you expect to see in the first eight episodes? Share your thoughts and theories below!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
