The Walking Dead Season 5 Opens With “Most Intense Six Minutes” Ever

The Walking Dead Season 5 premiere is sounding darn near orgasmic at this point. We’ll take it!

As you probably recall, Season 4 started with Farmer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) working a hoe in the prison fields. It was a quiet opening, to say the least. And it will not be repeated.

"Season 5, I would say, is the anti-hoe-ing," showrunner Scott Gimple told TVLine, and Andrew Lincoln immediately suggested that line for a T-shirt. (Watch the interview video below.) "The first six minutes are among the most intense minutes of The Walking Dead, period, let alone the opening of an episode," Scott continued. "It gets very intense very quick, very terrifying very quick. And then throughout the season it kind of ramps up between like sort of electric and acoustic sets."

The Powers That Be have already said Episode 1 will provide a ton of answers on Terminus, so it may be fair to expect the first six minutes to be set in T-town, either with Rick and company or perhaps in a flashback if they decide to give us a history lesson.

Suffice it to say, do not be tardy for the Season 5 party. Get your snacks ready — and tell any and all guests to shut their mouths up — by 8:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 12, so you don’t miss a second of the action.

Are you ready for this explosive opening? You still have a couple of months to prepare!
