The Walking Dead Season 5: Tyler James Williams Joins Cast As Noah

UPDATE: It's confirmed! Tyler James Williams is joining The Walking Dead Season 5, and The Hollywood Reporter said his character's name is Noah. That's it. No further details — yet. There's no Noah equivalent in The Walking Dead comics, so no help there. Filming spoilers suggest he joins the group in the Beth hospital storyline (based on the brief glimpse of him in the trailer, see below) and stays with the group as they move on.

Original story (8/26/14):

Even though it’s a show set after walkers have seemingly overrun the earth, it’s pretty standard for new faces to be added to The Walking Dead cast year after year. Sure, the majority of our survivors ended last season trapped in a Terminus train car, but it’s only a matter of time before they get out and we have no idea what or who they’ll find on the other side.

If the latest casting rumor is to be believed, Tyler Williams (Everybody Hates Chris) has joined the cast for Season 5. The Spoiling the Dead Facebook page notes that Tyler managed to land a role on the hit AMC drama and has been on the TWD set for several weeks now. What’s more? Tyler’s Twitter account seems to indicate that he’s currently in Atlanta and there are photos of him on set from not too long ago seemingly filming with Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon).

Other eagle-eyed fans seem to have spotted Tyler in the TWD Comic Con trailer that was released last month. It’s a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, but a guy who looks an awful lot like Tyler can be clearly seen followingBeth Greene (Emily Kinney) out of the prison (or whatever that foreboding place is) at the 2:47 mark. Get a closer look via the still on the left.

If that is Tyler’s character running behind Beth, then we’re glad to know he’s filmed with Norman in the past and was spotted filming with Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee), and Danai Gurira (Michonne) earlier today, August 26. If Tyler’s character has somehow met up with members of the former Team Prison then there’s hope for Beth too, right? Right, Scott Gimple?!

While all signs seem to indicate that Tyler is somehow involved with TWD Season 5, we’ll likely have to wait until after the October 12 season opener to be absolutely sure. Do you think Tyler was cast in TWD Season 5? Feel free to share your thoughts and theories below!

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres on October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
