Pretty Little Liars is back tomorrow, and we couldn’t be more excited! The Season 5 premiere will mark the tone for the next season, and we’re eager to see what the episode will bring to the table. We know the season opener will be taking place largely in New York City, picking up moments after Ezra is shot while protecting the Liars. With that context in mind, here are three scenes we hope to see in Season 5, Episode 1 (“EscApe From New York”).
A light-hearted moment for the Liars. We’re assuming this episode is going to include a fair amount of doom and gloom given the facts that Ezra was just shot and “A” is after our gals, but that doesn’t mean we’re not hoping for at least one light-hearted scene that gives us a glimpse at the friends this gang used to be. Reminding the viewer the good part of the friendship that initially brought and kept these girls together (i.e. not the parts when Ali was playing puppeteer with her BFFs) would be just grand, especially as we move into a season that will have Alis trying to reintegrate back into Rosewood.
An honest Ezria conversation. If Pretty Little Liars is going to be successful in convincing us that Ezria is a good idea, they should probably start immediately. We’re eager to see what this dynamic will look like moving forward given that it suffered so much in the second half of Season 4. Hopefully, Aria hasn’t forgiven Ezra for his betrayal — he still has much more explaining/groveling/truth-telling to do — but we still want to see these two check in with one another. Basically, we don’t want Ezra to be in a coma for the entire ep, you know? And having him come out of a coma just to whisper something in Aria’s ear doesn’t count as a conversation either. OK, show?
Hastings family follow-up. What the heck did Melissa whisper in her father’s ear at the end of the Season 4 finale?! Seriously, we’re dying to know, and we’re always desperate to check back in with the Hastings because, though we might not want them for kin, they are just about the most entertaining family to watch ever. According to the synopsis for the premiere, “Holbrook puts the Hastings family on alert,” we hope this means that we will get to see Melissa, Peter, and Veronica together in one scene, preferably hypocritically chatting about all of the drama Spencer has managed to get herself into this time. Oh, you Hastings!
