Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Premiere: Ezra Is “Going to Be in Bad Shape”

We may be able to breathe easier knowing that Ezra (Ian Harding) will survive the gunshot wound he sustained in the Pretty Little Liars Season 4 finale, but that doesn’t mean the injury isn’t very serious. What did Ian tell E! Online about his character’s Season 5 fate?

"He's going to be in bad shape," Ian divulged of Ezra’s state come Season 5. "I haven't seen the first script back, but in the costume fitting, I was getting fitted for medical gowns, several of them." Yikes! It sounds like Ezra might be recuperating for awhile, which is never a good thing when “A” is on the loose and has you in his/her sights.

We’re bracing ourselves for an emotional Season 5 premiere. We assume it will pick up shortly after the Season 4 finale ends, and will see Ezra fight for his life as Aria (Lucy Hale) and the rest of the Liars try to process the situation. There will be a paramedic and two surgeons featured in the Season 5 premiere, so we might get one of those will-he-or-won’t-he pull through waiting room situations alongside Aria, which are always delightfully dramatic to watch.

Will Ezra’s sacrifice and wounded state affect how Aria feels about her former love? Probably, though we still think Ezra has a lot of work to do before he is back in Aria’s good graces. Lucy had this to say of the chances of Ezria reuniting: "I want to say that hopefully she'll come around and be with him, but at the end of season four, things are up in the air. It's almost like how much more can they take, you know? So I don't know. If she's strong enough to get back with him, I would hope so, but we'll see."

There you have it: we see hospital gowns and Ezria angst in Ezra’s future. Along, hopefully, with a pair of Santa boxers.

Catch the Pretty Little Liars Season 5 premiere on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
