On Monday, March 31, just one day after The Walking Dead Season 4 finale aired, it was announced that Alanna Masterson (Tara Chambler), Andrew J. West (Gareth), and Christian Serratos (Rosita Espinosa) had all been promoted to series regulars for TWD Season 5.
Celebified caught up with Christian just days before her big promotion was announced, and even though she couldn’t say (or truly didn’t know) if her character was coming back for more, it’s clear that she hoped a fifth season of TWD was in her future. “I haven’t even gotten confirmation yet so I’m crossing my fingers and toes that I get to come back,” she says in the video above. This interview also took place before the Season 4 finale, “A” even aired, so for good measure we’ve left in Christian’s thoughts on that dramatic hour as well. “I know the season finale is just going to rock everyone’s world. I read the script and it’s amazing so I can only imagine when people are watching it what they’re going to do.”
And now that we know that Rosita and Christian will be sticking around for Season 5, we dig her response to what she loves most about her character even more. “[I love] that I’m learning new things,” the actress declared. “I’m the person you really have to push outside her comfort zone, admittedly, so it really brings me outside my comfort zone. I’m learning how to work with guns and weapons and things that I would usually try to shy away from so I think she’s making me a little braver.”
Seeing as how Christian was once paralyzed with fear by some plain old kitchen knives, we’d say she’s come a long way in a short time. Not only does Rosita have a handle on sharp objects, but she’s not so bad with deadly weapons either!
Although Christian obviously couldn’t dish on what we can expect from Rosita in Season 5, she did tell us what she would like to see from her character. “I’d like to see where she’s coming from, her heart and soul a little bit. I don’t think we’ve touched on that yet so maybe next season.”
Take out that “maybe,” girl. We know you’ll be back now so more Rosita story is a given. Are you looking forward to learning more about Rosita in TWD Season 5? Check out the video above and tell us your thoughts!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
