Glee Season 5 Spoiler: Will Rachel Get a New Love Interest?

The Glee cast and crew continues to impress us with how they’re handling the shocking loss of Cory Monteith (Finn). We’re now learning about how the show plans to handle Rachel’s (Lea Michele) love life moving forward, and we like what we’re hearing.

Hollywood Life is reporting that Rachel won’t get a new boyfriend anytime soon, and this is apparently Lea’s decision. “Lea doesn’t want to move fast into another relationship so quickly from the loss of Finn,” a source says. ”The show is going to take things naturally and make things as real as possible and have her deal with the loss and issues that come from it.”

It is unclear how long Rachel will stay single for, although it seems that her hiatus from the dating scene will last for a while. “Will there be love in the future? Most likely, but they are going to tread lightly and be respectful with the process as much as possible,” the insider reveals.

“Rachel, for the remainder of the show, is going to be a version of Lea that she wants to show to her fans,” the source adds. “Cory and Finn will not be forgotten, and that will be shown throughout the rest of the series.”

Rachel and Finn’s relationship has been the heart of Glee for the duration of the series, so we completely support the decision for Lea to remain single for now. Granted, Rachel and Finn weren’t an item when Finn was last on the show, but he had recently told Brody that Rachel is his “future wife,” so it’s clear they still had strong feelings for one another.

Obviously, we imagine Finn would have wanted Rachel to find happiness again and move on with her life, but it would be too jarring to see Rachel meet someone new too quickly. So it’s great that the show is respecting Lea’s wishes about her character.
