According to TV Line editor Michael Ausiello, all three of the newbies will be female. One of them will be at McKinley, while the other two will likely be based in NYC. The high school student will be named Ruby, but all we know about her so far is that she’s African American.
The other two characters will both be in their 20s, which leads us to believe they’re either NYADA students or — dare we hope? —Rachel’s (Lea Michele)new co-stars in Funny Girl? We’re still not entirely sure that she’ll get the part, but we’d love to see her as an understudy or production aide.
Whoever they are, the girls’ names are Julie and Ryan. TV Line reveals that the show is asking that potential Ryans be able to both sing and play guitar, while the main requirements for Julie are that she be cute and quirky.
Just in case our Broadway theory doesn’t hold up, it’s also possible that Ryan (and/or Julie) could be members of that new band Kurt (Chris Colfer) will be joining this year. That definitely would explain why Ryan needs to be a pro guitar player.
What do you think of Glee’s new additions? Since they’re only recurring characters, we won’t see them in every episode. Still, their presence on the show will no doubt leave a mark. We can’t wait to find out what’s in store!
