Vampire Diaries Season 5 Spoilers: Damon Is Back to His “Old Sadistic Self”

If you were hoping for a quick redemption for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) on The Vampire Diaries, you shouldn’t hold your breath. The Salvatore is back to his “old sadistic self” in a sneak peek TV Guide has for tomorrow night’s episode: Season 5, Episode 13 (“Total Eclipse of the Heart”). And Stefan (Paul Wesley) is none too pleased about it.

It sounds like Damon and new-old bestie Enzo (Michael Malarkey) aren’t finished their murdering spree. After leaving poor old Aaron Whitmore as road kill on his way to the Canadian border, they have a new target in mind — but they have to find him first.

“You haven’t heard from Dr. Wes Maxfield by any chance?” Enzo asks Stefan, as he dives into the Salvatore mansion’s seemingly infinite hard liquor supply. “Bloke’s next on the Augustine hit list and he’s a slippery little devil.”

Stefan doesn’t even bother answering Enzo, instead asking his brother: “Is that the plan? Kill off Augustine, then go back to your sadistic, psychotic old self?”

But it’s going to take more than just Stefan’s judgment to turn Damon back around — at least for now. He tells Stefan: “I happen to like my old sadistic self, Stefan … So get another hobby, brother, because I’m not in the mood to be saved.” Enzo awesomely suggests golf or scrapbooking as possible alternatives. Yes, we would watch an entire episode about Stefan scrapbooking. Plus, he’s going to need to start collecting new memories now that he burned ye olde diaries in the fireplace.

“Come on, Damon. You’re better than this,” Stefan tries again.

Damon politely disagrees: “On the contrary, brother. I’m better like this.” Looks like Sadistic Damon is here to stay for awhile! Fingers crossed Scrapbooking Stefan won’t be far behind.

How long do you think Damon’s latest sadistic phase will last? And will Dr. Wes come out of hiding before the end of it? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
