Game of Thrones Season 5 Spoilers: Here Are the Directors

While we haven’t received any concrete casting news yet for Game of Thrones Season 5, we do at least know who’s going to be directing all of the new (and old) faces.

If you loved the direction in Season 4, too bad, because none of last season’s directors are returning for next year. In fact, of the five new directors, only one has worked on the show before: David Nutter, who directed a little episode in Season 3 called “The Rains of Castamere,” which, in case you forgot, included the infamous Red Wedding scene. Nutter is on tap to direct Episodes 9 and 10 in Season 5, meaning the presumably epic conclusion will be left in his very capable hands.

As for the rest, Breaking Bad’s Michael Slovis will helm the first two episodes of Season 5, while HBO veteran (Entourage) Mark Mylod will take the reins for Episodes 3 and 4. Jeremy Podeswa, who worked with HBO on Boardwalk Empire, as well as Showtime’s period piece, The Tudors, will direct Episodes 5 and 6, and rounding things out is Miguel Sapochnik, who is best known for his work on FOX shows House and Fringe.

This seems like a good crew to us, and we’re very excited to see some new perspectives in Westeros (and Essos) for Season 5!

Are you happy to see so many changes, or do you wish they stuck with tried and true Game of Thrones directors? Let us know in the comments below!
