Vampire Diaries Season 5: Steven R. McQueen Says Jeremy Will “Explode” This Season
Dang, it’s hard being Jeremy Gilbert. Of all the characters on The Vampire Diaries, it seems like Jeremy is the least lucky one. Seriously, don’t you remember his memorial service, his struggle with the hunter’s mark, the loss of basically all of his family, and, oh yeah, his sister Elena (Nina Dobrev) being turned into a full-fledged vampire.
When Season 5 picks up starting October 3, don’t expect things to get any better for the littlest (though buffest) Gilbert. Now that Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) is dead, Jeremy is the only one who can see her.
“Jeremy's lost a lot of people in his life and now he's lost the one he cared for most. Who he even loved, I think,” Steven R. McQueen says of his character. “[Bonnie] sacrificed herself and at the beginning of the season, he's really feeling that burden and that weight.”
And while Jeremy is still a hunter, his sister is hooking up with Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), and Katherine is an unwelcome guest in his life once more. Things won’t be brightening up for this Mystic Falls resident any time soon either, but that doesn’t mean Steven isn’t excited for fans to watch him this season.
“I'm excited for everyone to see my fight scenes, they're pretty bad ass,” Steven said. “I love preparing for those so much. Jeremy imploded about his problems in the first few seasons, but this year, you'll really see him explode.” We, for one, are looking forward to this explosion.
