Downton Abbey Season 5: Should Tom Branson End Up With Sarah Bunting? (POLL)

Lady Sybil Crawley’s (Jessica Brown Findlay) sudden death in childbirth back during Season 3 remains one of the most harrowing moments of TV viewing we’ve ever experienced. Making the moment all the worse was seeing the look of utter devastation that froze the face of Sybil’s husband, Tom Branson (Allen Leech).

These two had been through so much together — facing down classism, fleeing from Ireland for their lives, dealing with grumpy Lord Grantham — so to have Sybil ripped away so soon seemed even more cruel. But, if Downton Abbey showed us anything during its fourth season, life must go on. But should Tom’s life go on with a certain persistent schoolmistress known as Sarah Bunting (Daisy Lewis)?

We first met Sarah at the tail end of Season 4 after Tom met her at a political event. The two proceeded to bump into each other in the strangest places, including along the side of the road when Sarah conveniently had car trouble. Later, more than eight months after they’d first met, Tom finally got around to asking Sarah out (or, you know, the 1923 equivalent of that).

Their evening ended at Downton when she insisted on being shown the grand estate; underbutler Thomas Barrow’s discovery of them upstairs (they were just looking at the view!) could spell trouble for Tom in the season to come.

While Sarah is certainly no Sybil — harem pants only work on a very select few — should that disqualify her from being the next Mrs. Tom Branson and the stepmother of little Sybbie? Or do you think these two are meant to be together? Take the poll below and check back with Wetpaint Entertainment to see what fans think best for Tom’s love life.

The first round of voting is in. Check out the results and keep voting! This one's not over until Tom's got a ring back on his finger.
