In an interview with The Daily Edition, an Australian talk show, Tammen dropped some major scoop about Season 5. At around 3:05 in the video, which you can watch below, Tammen gushes that there's "a lot of bad things that happen" in the new season.
"We find out who 'A' is, and then it's not really 'A'," she dishes, basically confirming the obvious: Shana (Aeriel Miranda) was not the big bad. No surprise there, but what is a shock is when Tammen goes on to add, "And then someone has a twin sister. I can't give too much away, or then I'm going to have to kill you!"
Well, that's already quite a bit! After all, it sounds like she just confirmed one of the most hotly debated theories out there. But if someone does have a twin, who is it?
While we still think Ali having a twin makes a let of sense, for now we'll assume the showrunners are telling the truth when they say they aren't going down that path. So, if it's not her, who does have an unknown twin running around Rosewood somewhere? Here are our top four theories.
Mrs. D. We've talked before about why Mrs. D having a twin makes sense, and we continue to think it's a plausible theory. Perhaps her twin was the one who killed Toby's mom, and/or is the one who tried to kill Ali that night — that would certainly explain why Mrs. D was so involved at Radley, and why she was willing to cover up Ali's murder. If Mrs. D was covering for her twin, than it's possible the twin is the one who killed her, after Mrs. D decided she could no longer protect her sis.
Jason. Everything we just said about Mrs. D having a twin could work equally well if Jason (Drew Van Acker) is actually the one with a mentally disturbed twin sis. She could be the one who offed Toby's mom, and she could be the one who tried to kill Ali. If Mrs. D was going to cover up her daughter's death to protect someone, who is she more likely to cover for than her other child?
Melissa...or Spencer. The Hastings clearly have secrets, and we could totally see this family covering up a mentally disturbed child to preserve their reputation. Again, if the twin in question ended up in Radley, it would explain Mr. Hastings’s shady behavior whenever that institution is brought up, and it's even possible that a Hastings twin is the one who tried to off Ali. It would certainly explain Mrs. D's distrust of the Hastings girls, and while we have a harder time believing she would cover for a Hastings child, it's possible she was intimidated into it by Mr. Hastings. We know they had some kind of deal going on...
