The Vampire Diaries Season 5: Was That the End of Klaus and Caroline?

Hold it now. Vampire Diaries spoilers for Season 5 from TVLine.

Klaus (Joseph Morgan) sure does know how to make an entrance. In The Vampire Diaries Season 4 finale, he marked his arrival by decapitated a witch with a flying mortar board.

Later, he and Caroline (Candice Accola) shared a moment, where the hybrid promised her boyfriend, Tyler (Michael Trevino), could return to Mystic Falls. He told her that while Tyler is her first love, he intends to be her last. Then he left for New Orleans again, to deal with his own baby business.

So was that the last Klaroline moment we’ll see, or will there be some crossover action on The Originals? Julie Plec tells TVLine that Klaus has a long way to go if Caroline is ever to reciprocate his feelings. “Klaus has a long journey ahead of him. He’s got a very, very, very long road toward being a redeemed character. He hasn’t exactly been a peach,” Julie points out. “Even when he does nice things for Caroline, they don’t necessarily offset all the nasty things he’s done to her and all her friends. So as Caroline grows up and goes to college and experience a new phase of her life, we’ll see if she is still drawn to him and if he’s making the kind of changes that make her want to have him in her life at all.”

Looks like that chaste peck on the cheek will just have to tide Klaroline fans over for now.
