The Walking Dead Season 5: What’s Coming Up For Michonne?

Okay, we’re not done with Season 4 of The Walking Dead quite yet (the finale, “A” airs on March 30) but does that mean we can’t start speculating about Season 5?

We already know that the fifth season of the hit AMC show is scheduled to start shooting later this spring, so a little character-specific speculation seems like it’s in order. Specifically, what’s in store for Michonne (Danai Gurira) next season?

HeyUGuys posed that exact question to Danai, and she gave them an entirely expected vague answer. “Well, we’ve only just finished shooting this season so they’re working on Season 5 and we’re all going to have to wait and see what it has in store! You have to get to the end of Season 4 first, because who knows what happens?” Nondescript, yes, but at least it’s something!

Also, assuming that we’ll see Michonne in Season 5 requires that she survive Season 4, which could be a dangerous leap to make, even to Danai. When asked if she thinks Michonne would ever get killed off since “no one is safe”, Danai replied,“You just said it! No one is safe on The Walking Dead.”

As fans, we hope Michonne sticks around for a while, but we’ve learned not to get too attached. So if Michonne were to die, what’s the one possession Danai would swipe from the set? “My katana, obviously!,” the actress quipped. “Although I do love my vest and my gloves, so I’d have to take three things away!”

We haven’t heard any Michonne-centered death speculation as of late, but as Danai reiterated above, no one is safe on this show. Can you see Michonne making it to Season 5 of TWD? Tell us your thoughts and theories below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
