Holly Billith! True Blood Season 6, Episode 2 was more action-packed than we could have hoped for. Not only did we get to meet Ben (Rob Kazinsky), a handsome half-fairy hunk already smitten with Sookie (Anna Paquin), but we also saw Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) go undercover only to get owned by Governor Burrell and learned much more about Bill’s (Stephen Moyer) new powers.
As with any True Blood episodes, there were plenty of moments that had us shaking our heads, yelling expletives at our screens, and throwing things — sometimes all at once.
Here’s our list of the top five WTF moments from True Blood Season 6, Episode 2.
1. Meet Your Fairy Grandfather
Turns out Jason’s (Ryan Kwanten) life was not actually in danger when he hitched a ride with an eccentric-looking stranger who apparently knew a whole lot about Warlow. Instead of actually being Warlow, the gray-haired driver turned out to be Jason’s fairy grandfather, Niall (Rutger Hauer). All we can say is, dude knows how to make an entrance!
2. Governor Burrell Outsmarts Eric
We knew there was no way Eric’s undercover operation would go off without a hitch, but we were as shocked as the poor viking vamp was when Governor Burrell simply laughed in the face of his attempted glamouring. Way harsh. Turns out, in addition crazy UV light-emitting bullets, contact lenses that block a vampire’s ability to hypnotize humans have been invented too.
3. Bill’s Super Scary Body Drain
While under Lilith’s control, Bill’s catatonic state confused Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) so much she decided to try anything to snap him out of it. Thinking a snack would do the trick, a “human edibles” hooker was called in. But instead of taking a little bite out of the call girl, Bill used his crazy mind tricks to break every bone in her body and suck the blood out of her like a can of V8. It was horrifying, to say the least.
4. Alcide Takes Emma From Sam
Taking his duties as pack master seriously, Alcide (Joe Manganiello) muscled in on the conflict between Martha and Sam (Sam Trammell) over the fate of little orphan Emma, insisting she come with the wolves because they’re her kin. The former friends got physical over the issue, with Alcide knocking Sam out and absconding with the frightened halfling.
5. Bill Sees the Future — and It Burns!
Bill can now add precognition to his list of superpowers acquired since drinking Lilith’s blood. When he finally wakes up from his possessed state, he realizes he’s been having visions of the future. The scene ends with him seeing a group of vampires (including Eric, Jessica, Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), and Tara (Rutina Wesley)) imprisoned in a cell. The ceiling opens to reveal the sun, and the captive vampires meet the true death. Whether Bill can change the course of the future is yet to be seen. But let’s hope his new powers won’t go wasted!
