Glee Season 6 Filming Begins — See Lea Michele Back on Set! (PHOTO)

We were originally under the impression that filming for Glee’s sixth and final season was set to begin back in July, but since Season 6 will consist of only 13 episodes instead of the traditional 22 filming was pushed back to September. Many cast members were spotted on the Paramount lot last month preparing to film, but the cameras didn’t actually start rolling until yesterday, September 3.

One Glee gal who was especially excited to be back at work is none other than Lea Michele (Rachel). Lea, who just finished celebrating her 28th birthday with a luxurious trip to Mexico, tweeted on September 3, “Day 1 back on the set of #GleeSeason6 #BerryIsBack.” Lea’s Berry-rific tweet also included a photo of her in character getting her hair and makeup done. In the snap we see Lea sitting sweetly in her chair while someone touches up her hair and a makeup artist applies some blush.

Though Rachel’s penny loafers and animal sweaters are a thing of the past, she’s still channeling her inner preppy girl with a patterned skirt and white blouse. We loved Rach’s edgier New York wardrobe, but her tailored look for the start of Season 6 makes sense considering she’ll be heading back to McKinley High in Lima to reboot the New Directions. While we’re used to seeing Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) and his sweater vests at the head of the choir room, we’re eager to see how Rachel will revive her former club!

Lea’s first day back on set just kept getting better. A few hours after she posted that first photo, she shared a pic of a belated birthday bouquet she received from Glee executive music producer, Adam Anders. “The sweetest birthday surprise in my trailer today from @AdamAnders & his lovely family!” Lea wrote, adding the hashtag, “#GleeFamilyForever.” Aww, how sweet!

Are you happy to finally see Lea back on set? Tell us how you feel below!
