True Blood Season 6 Finale: Ratings Were Down From Season 5
The Season 6 finale of True Blood last Sunday was less than impressive in the ratings department. The Aug. 18 episode’s ratings were down from the season opener as well as last season’s finale. The final instalment of the abbreviated 10-episode season drew in an audience of 4.1 million total viewers. In comparison, the season premiere drew 4.5 million viewers and last season’s finale earned 5 million viewers.
This isn’t all that shocking considering many Truebies have complained that the show has jumped the shark, losing its ability to wow us like it did in those first few seasons. Some have lamented that the show has boiled down to a series of sex scenes, while others have said the storylines are too convoluted. The finale didn’t fare very well with TVLine viewers either, garnering a C+ rating.
Many who have jumped ship may want to consider coming back aboard for next season, however, as showrunner Brian Buckner has assured us that the show will be returning to its roots.
"We're going to condense the number of stories we're telling and make it feel like we're coming home,” he reveals.
What did you think of the season finale? Will you watch again next season?
