Glee’s fifth season is officially over, but before the season finale (“The Untitled Rachel Berry Project”) ended, it answered an important question: Where will Rachel (Lea Michele) be next year? Unsurprisingly, our favorite Funny Girl star is headed to LA, where she’ll be taking on the small screen!
In case you missed it, the fate of Rachel’s TV pilot was looking a little bleak at first. She decided not to leave Broadway for the really, really terrible version of the show that screenwriter Mary Halloran (Kristen Schaal) was peddling, so instead she offered up a few pointers to help her create the show that was worthy of leaving the stage for. The second draft did the trick, and now Rachel is definitely LA-bound.
And now, thanks to Fox, we know a little bit more about what this means for Season 6 when Glee returns next January — and it sounds like we have a very Rachel-centric final season ahead of us!
“Next season, the show will follow New Directions’ original star Rachel Berry as she takes the next steps in her career, focusing on the bright future ahead for this talented Glee club alumnus,” a press release from the network says.
So does this mean we can expect a lot of Rachel screentime, and possibly that any returning characters will be reduced to subplots? It’s a little early to make the call, but we know the loads of spoilers that will inevitably crop up between then and now will clue us in soon!
Do you like the idea of a Rachel-focused final season, or would you rather see more of other characters?
