While Paula DeAnda may have only gotten Shakira and Blake Shelton to swivel on March 10 during the blind auditions on The Voice, they both heaped high praise on her.
Adam Levine noted that she had some great moments and others that were not so great, but Shakira focused more on her strengths and her stellar head voice. As for the rough parts, Shak assured the pretty singer she could help her to improve “100 percent.”
Blake took it one step further, and even told Paula she hit an “amazing note,” and, “I can see a victory in your future, and it’s only in this lane,” gesturing at the beam of light stretching from the stage to his chair.
Despite Adam urging Paula to go with Shakira, calling the decision a “no-brainer,” Paula chose Team Blake. It looks as though the young, impressionable singer may have fallen victim to the dimples, as so many have done before her. Paula took to Twitter to express her excitement over joining Team Blake, tweeting, “Team Blakey!!!! I just want him to hear me sang some country #TheVoice lol #dimples.” Uh oh!
We kid, we kid, as she will surely shine under Blake’s guidance, but what else do we know about this San Angelo, Texas native?
Paula certainly didn’t reach The Voice stage with a blank slate. In fact, the 24-year-old artist has not only recorded two albums under the tutelage of music mogul Clive Davis, but she’s also opened up for Rihanna. Talk about some bragging rights!
While with Clive at Arista, Paula had some success, with her single “Walk Away (Remember Me)” reaching the Top 20 of the Hot 100. Although it was certified gold, her two follow-up singles weren’t as well received by fans. When Clive left Arista to become the COO of Sony BMG, Paula was dropped from the label. Seems to us she has a strong shot at a second chance now!
This is no one-trick pony, either. According to IMDB, Paula acted in Super Sweet 16: The Movie in 2007 and also appeared on Keeping Up with the Kardashians that same year.
