True Blood Ratings Hit Season High With Season 6, Episode 5: “F*** the Pain Away”

A watched pot doesn’t boil, but a watched season of True Blood absolutely sizzles. In spite of fans worrying about the show’s fate, especially given all the changes this season, the show hit a season high during Sunday’s episode (Season 6, Episode 5: “F*** the Pain Away).

Though there were a number of factors that kept the show’s devotees guessing about its fate — the shortened season order, the new showrunner, the seeming cutdown of number of visible butt cheeks per episode —  4.5 million eyes were glued to Sunday’s antics, according to The Wrap. (Well, probably 9 million, unless folks were watching with one eye closed.)

But Sunday’s count wasn’t even the final tally. All told, between HBO Go, and folks whose impressive social lives left them with no other option than to DVR the episode, it raked in 5.5 million views. No wonder it was just renewed for Season 7!

With things really ramping up on the show, we can understand the spike in viewership. Pam in therapy? Jessica maybe the most high we have ever seen any vampire? Lafayette trying to kill Sookie while possessed by her dad? All of the Warlow twists and shocking moments? It’s hard to keep up, but we’re waiting anxiously for next week’s episode already.

Are you surprised by the ratings, or did you know the episode would do well? Sound off below!
