When asked if Bonnie and Damon might actually like where they ended up — i.e. currently be hanging in some kind of heaven — Julie replied: “Ooh, well… I can tell you this: Where they are is part of the mystery of the beginning of the season. It’s not torturous, but it’s by no means a roller coaster ride of fun. If nothing else, it’s a bit of an existential experience.” So not heaven, but not hell. Sounds like things could have turned out much worse for our heroes.
It sounds like Bonnie and Damon are just as confused as we are about their fate. Julie teased: “They’ll be aware that they’re no longer where they thought they were — but they’re also not dead, per se. They’ll be asking a lot of questions, along with the audience, including: What’s going on? Where the hell are we? And how do we get home?” Glad we’re not the only ones who questions — though, we can’t help but further wonder how long TVD will take to answer them for Bonnie, Damon, and us. Are these questions answered in the first episode of the season, the first story arc of the season, or do they extend throughout the entire season? How long can TVD keep a storyline involving Bonnie and Damon hanging out in some kind of existential plane compelling?
Where do you think Bonnie and Damon ended up? How long do you think TVD will take to answer these questions? Sound off in the comments below!
