“I need you to give me hope,” Elena says on the phone with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) while she cries alone in a car. Stefan, who appears to be in the middle of nowhere, isn’t really in the mood to put up with Elena’s dramatics. “Damon’s gone. You need to say goodbye too,” he says pretty coldly. (This is not the Stefan we’re used to, but the edge is definitely nice.)
As Clooney’s “Sorry” plays, we see Elena looking at a photo of Damon, which she then drops. “I need to see Damon,” Elena desperately tells a guy — maybe Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) because Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) was too busy drinking his sorrows away earlier in the teaser — in her room.
Then the heavens open up and we finally get our first look at Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) in Season 6. She’s on the phone with someone (we don’t know who) and she’s got some pretty interesting news. “Do you know Elena has some witchy drug problem that allows her to hallucinate Damon?” she asks.
If you’re anxious to see Damon, your wait is over. “Elena,” a hallucination of Damon says. “Move on.” Harsh words, but definitely some real talk from the Other Side. We have a hunch this season is going to be Delena overdrive — even with the two separated by dimensions — and will hinge on the dramatics. Pull yourself together, Elena!
