The Vampire Diaries Season 6: Who’s the New Big Bad?
A good villain can make or break a Vampire Diariesseason. The best story arcs on the supernatural drama have come with a badass villain we’re equally frightened and intrigued by. So, who will (hopefully) be compelling us in Season 6? Here are our top speculations.
Tripp, the militia guy. We can’t wait to meet Tripp, “strong and disciplined head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town,” played by Eureka’s Colin Ferguson. We will meet Tripp in the Season 6 premiere and we know he will be at odds with Sheriff Forbes, so what gives? Will he be our new, morally-ambiguous villain? Hard to say — his character was originally announced as the new villain, but the press department has backtracked on that. We think Tripp may be somewhere in-between hero and villain — a foil for our characters, but one with a sympathetic and valid motivation.
Enzo, the emo vampire. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) has been upgraded to a series regular for Season 6, and will apparently be just as much trouble as ever. Described as a “loose cannon,” we can only imagine what he’s gotten up to since Damon’s death. From our experience, Enzo is always one hurt feeling away from going full-on villain. Will something set him off in Season 6? Will he become the same kind of compelling, entertaining villain the Mikaelsons have been in the past? We kind of hope so. (We’re already looking forward to his inevitable spin-off: Murder Buddies!)
Sarah, the street smart newcomer. We don’t know much about new character Sarah (Gabrielle Walsh), other than her “street smarts” and “shady agenda,” but the latter in particular makes us wonder if this Mystic Falls resident might graduate from mysterious to villainous over the course of the season. It would be pretty cool to see TVD make a young, female villain happen. Perhaps Sarah could channel the villainous vibe Katherine brought to town?
