Glee Season 6 Will Definitely Be the Show’s Last, Says FOX Chairman

It’s never easy to let a beloved show go, especially one that’s had a run like Glee has. But all good things must come to an end, and for Glee, that end is Season 6 — no room for negotiation allowed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision that Glee’s sixth season will be its last is set in stone, as far as The Powers That Be at Fox as well as the show’s producers are concerned. The number of episodes that will air may still be up for debate, but the end of Glee is not.

The good news? Showrunner Ryan Murphy has an awesome plan in place for the way the show will end, so we know Glee will get a goodbye worthy of the show’s explosive popularity.

“We sat down creatively and heard where it was going, and we thought there was a creative, compelling reason to do it that way,” Fox chairman Kevin Reilly said. “Ryan has a really good beat on where the show is going to be. It will be its last season for sure. When it comes back in the second half of the season, they will also air all of their episodes in a row.”

It’s a bummer to hear that even if the show made a miracle comeback next year and had record amounts of viewers — pretty unlikely, but anything’s possible — a surprise Season 7 wouldn’t happen. But we think it might just be time to let the show go, especially since the cast obviously has tons of opportunity to create huge careers for themselves independently of Glee.

Are you glad Glee is ending next year, or will you be sad to see it go?
