True Blood Season 7: HBO Renews Series For Summer 2014

Rejoice, Truebies — True Blood is sinking its fangs into a seventh season next year. HBO announced today that the hit vampire series will return for Season 7 in Summer 2014, with executive producer Brian Buckner returning as showrunner.

Though many speculated that Season 6 would be the show's last, the network wasn't about to let go of their signature program. "True Blood remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers,” noted Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, in a press release. “Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV."

You can say that again! In last night's episode alone, some of the biggest reveals and most shocking moments in the show's history happened, and we're sure it will only get crazier once one of the series regulars is killed off. According to HBO's early data, the show is already "exceeding ten million viewers per episode," which proves that creator Alan Ball stepping down didn't affect the show negatively — if anything, it's doing even better this year.

Now that we're halfway through Season 6, we're going to start speculating what we want in Season 7. Will that be True Blood's swan song? Only time will tell, but feel free to dish your thoughts, feelings, and theories in the comments below!
