Last we left the citizens of Bon Temps, mayor Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) was pairing off humans and healthy vampires in an effort to protect everyone from those Hep-V infected vamps getting ready to close in on the town, but Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) turned down Bill Compton’s (Stephen Moyer) offer for protection since she’s now dating Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello) and he can look after her now.
Bill was annoyed to say the least and it looks like he might have lost Sookie for good, but in a clip from Season 7, Episode 3, the on-again-off-again couple make a dramatic decision about the future of their relationship.
In the brief clip, obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Sookie and Bill are in the midst of hatching their next plan. “If we’re going to go through with this plan, then you’re going to have to take my blood. Or I won’t be able to help you,” Bill says.
After thinking for a moment, Sookie gestures to Bill’s wrist and he takes a bite, allowing the blood to run freely down his arm. Sookie drinks up, but when Bill seems to be enjoying the exchange a little too much she declares, “I have a boyfriend.” And, sure enough, that statement sends Bill’s fangs right back into his mouth.
Even though Sookie doesn’t mention Alcide by name, he’s clearly still in the picture at this point. Still, the fact that Sookie even took Bill’s blood after she was so unwilling to do so in the Season 6 finale tells us that this pair has already come a long way.
Do you think that Sookie and Alcide will stay together, or is she better suited for Bill? Head on over to Entertainment Weekly to watch the clip and then tell us your thoughts below!
True Blood Season 7 premieres June 22 on HBO at 9 p.m. ET.
