Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Finale Spoilers: Meredith’s Terrifying Labor (VIDEO)

Anything can happen in Grey’s Anatomy finales, and though they’re typically unpredictable, we have a good idea of what will happen in tomorrow’s Season 9 ender (Episode 24: “Perfect Storm”).

Out of all the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial, we’re most worried about Meredith Grey. Not only is she pregnant, but in the promo, we discover that she is rushed into a C-section... in the dark! After the superstorm knocks out the power at the hospital, her son must be delivered with only flashlights to illuminate the operating room.

We saw her intensely painful contractions in a sneak peek yesterday, but now the Huffington Post has a look at the actual surgery. But what leads to the C-section? Meredith wants to push, but the doctor demands that she doesn’t — otherwise, her baby could be in danger.

“I want to push. I feel like I need to push. Can I push?” Mer asks the Dr. Connie, and after she checks, a horrified look crosses the obstetrician’s face. “I need you not to push,” she insists. “There’s face presentation. I can feel your baby’s face, so I’m going to need to do a C-section.”

Though she doesn’t want to have surgery, Cristina helps ease her worries, saying, “It’s just a C; it’s barely a surgery. A moron could do a C!” It doesn’t end up being that easy, though. The power goes out, and Mer panics promptly because they’re having a C-section in the dark.

"This is not how I wanted to do this," Meredith says as she lays on the operating table. "Well, you once said that about marrying me. Look how that turned out. I love you,” Derek replies, trying to lighten the mood with a smile.

But as the baby is out and the room is silent, no one is smiling. “What do you see?” Meredith questions. “I don’t hear him crying! Why isn’t he crying?!” Derek goes to help, and based on the continued silence, we should ready a box of tissues.

“Somebody talk to me!” Meredith demands. “I don’t hear him crying!” And in that moment, we see tears roll down her cheeks.
