Spencer couldn't remember if she hurt Ali way back when, Aria left town to run away from her pain, and the other Liars had to struggle on alone on Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 22 (“Cover For Me”). Did all this tension make for a good episode?

Honestly, we felt like there was too much going on in this episode. A lot of it was very interesting, but a lot of it felt like filler.
Let's start with the good stuff. Aria confronting Ezra and giving him a piece of her mind was exactly what we wanted. Everything around Spencer and her mom was tense and painful and heartbreaking, in a great way. Mona was great, as always. Hanna figuring out Paige wrote the letter was good, because we love how smart she's gotten this season. Mrs. D was suitably creepy. The scene with all four Liars coming together to discuss what Ezra's book said was really, really good, too. We love it when all the Liars are working together.
On the other hand, we weren't really digging all of the guy stuff. Aria's brief fling was nice, and we get why it was needed to get her to a place where she could confront Ezra, but it took up too large a chunk of the episode, especially so late in the season. And Travis? Yeah, sorry, can't bring ourselves to care. He's a poor Caleb substitute, and we don't have time for him. Neither does Hanna, of that matter.
In the end, this episode just didn't have us dying to find out what happens next. That's a problem, since next week is the penultimate episode of the season.
Overall. We give it 3 stars.
