There was a time not too long after Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson allegedly head-butted his then-wife Evelyn Lozada during an argument nearly two years ago when we thought the former Miami Dolphin would never play football again (he was promptly dropped from the team after his altercation with Ev) but apparently we were wrong!

Last week we told you that Chad had joined the Montreal Alouettes, a Canadian football team, and even though we’re pretty sure it’s still just the pre-season, Chad recently posted a photo on Instagram of him in his Alouette uniform and reflected on what it’s been like for him to get back to playing football after a prolonged absence from the sport he loves. Of course we don’t think we can ever fully forgive Chadd for what he allegedly did to Ev, but his thoughtful and insightful caption did manage to resonate with us.

On June 29 he posted a photo of himself in his football gear in the tunnel to the field and wrote, “To walk through a tunnel again was indescribable, complacency & comfort made me forget how fickle opportunity is. Thank God for 2nd chances to do what I love once again.” Like we said, what he allegedly did to Evelyn nearly two years ago is inexcusable as far as we’re concerned, but it does sound like Chad has at least learned from his mistakes and is simply grateful for the opportunity to play football again.

As for the photo itself, Chad’s clearly still rocking the number 85 jersey he made famous, even though he’s playing for a different team this time around. Once “Ochocinco” always “Ochocinco”, right?

What do you think of Chad’s thoughtful reflections on his “second chance”? Tell us where you stand below!
