See The Mountain Lifting 1,000 Pounds!

Anyone who watched Game of Thrones Season 4, Episode 8, “The Mountain and the Viper” knows what an absolute beast The Mountain (Thor Bjornsson) is, but this is just insane.

Bleacher Report has a video of Thor deadlifting nearly 1,000 pounds. Yeah, you read that right, half a ton. The video was taken at the 2014 Arnold Strongman Classic in February, and Thor hoists 994 pounds in the form of six giant truck tires on a bar. Surprisingly, Thor only came in fifth at this competition, meaning that there are some seriously scary humans in the world. Not to be outdone though, Thor has won a total of seven Arnold Strongman contests, and is currently ranked the second strongest man in the world (right after Oberyn Martell, right?!).

In case you’ve forgotten just how big The Mountain is, he’s 6’9” and weighs over 420 lbs. In case you thought it was far-fetched for him to lift Oberyn (who’s probably no more than 180 lbs, if that) one-handed, this video should convince you otherwise. We now doubt any special effects were used in the Mountain’s impressive lift of the Prince of Dorne, in fact he probably could have crushed his skull IRL if he wanted to.

We’re glad he didn’t want to.
