Selena Gomez’s Mom Honors Daughter She Lost in Miscarriage With Emotional Post
Selena Gomez’s mother is opening up about a heartbreaking loss the family endured six years ago.
Mandy Teefey suffered a devastating miscarriage in 2011 and lost her daughter Scarlett.
She shared a post today to honor her baby and open up about the emotional loss.
In fact, the mother of two posted a series of photos of her pregnant and one of her holding a baby Selena.
“Thank you to all the fans who honored our Scarlett yesterday,” she wrote alongside the photos.
“Dec. 17th will never be the same, but we decide to celebrate her by writing her letters on red balloons and releasing them.”
Though it was tough for the family, it was also the day Mandy and Selena wrapped Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why, for which they both serve as executive producers.
“Family is what matters, blood or not, #family13 made me smile and feel loved when so needed and they didn’t know.”
She continued, “Fans, I want you to know you are family because I have a huge family and you are the only ones who remember! XO forever.”
Following her miscarriage, Mandy had 4-year-old daughter Grace with husband Brian, who is the 25-year-old’s step-father.
She also recently opened up about the “Bad Liar” hitmaker’s kidney transplant.
The 41-year-old shared a photo of her daughter holding hands with Francia Raisa, Selena’s donor.
“This picture is one of the most breathtaking images that will live with me forever,” she wrote.
“For all those moments of not knowing if we were going up or going down, I can always come back to this picture and know we can always make it back up,” she shared.
“As a mother I was helpless, scared and all I could do was pray for both of them, Francia’s beautiful family.”
She continued, “I am pretty sure I am banned from that hospital. Mama Bear was in high gear.
“Selena gained a kidney, I was able to keep my little girl, but I also gained another daughter….thank you to everyone who was there for Sel, Francia and our families.”
