Sarah Jessica Parker may have been right about women in pop culture being "unfriendly" to one another — but pop stars and BFFs Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato defy that rule.
Selena gave a special shout-out to Demi while accepting the Young Visionary Award at the unite4:humanity gala last night (February 27) in Los Angeles.
The star-studded event was thrown by unite4:good, a global movement focused "promoting positivity, inspiring charitable engagement and empowering acts of kindness and service."
"I'm thankful for you. You inspire me everyday," a choked-up Selena said to Demi, a fellow honoree that evening. "I hope together we can inspire people to focus on what's really important."
Actor William H. Macy presented Selena with her award, commending her on her five-year involvement with UNICEF. Meanwhile, Eva Longoria presented Demi with the Young Luminary Award for her humanitarian efforts. (And Demi even graced the event with a performance of her songs "Warrior" and "Skyscraper.")
Other charitable celebrities honored that night included Andy Samberg, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alicia Keyes, Wilmer Valderrama, and Philomena Lee — the real-life subject of the Oscar-nominated film Philomena. So nice to see celebs acting selflessly — and having their efforts recognized!
