Serena Williams Snapchat Pregnancy Announcement Was an Accident!
We were a little surprised when Serena Williams announced her pregnancy on Snapchat last week — not because she’s expecting, but because of how casually she revealed the news.
Well, apparently the post was just as big a surprise for the tennis star, as she just admitted the post was a total accident!
The 35-year-old was at a Ted Talk this week, when host Gayle King brought up that now-famous snap.
The CBS This Morning anchor asks, "I asked you about that picture and you said nobody was supposed to see that picture. What do you mean?”
“Well, actually it was an accident,” Serena states.
“I was on vacation just taking some time for myself and I have this thing where I've been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I'm going.”
She continues, “I didn't tell a lot of people to be quite honest and I'd been saving it. And you know how social media is when you press the wrong button…”
The athlete then explains how, 30 minutes later, she saw she’d had a bunch of missed calls and soon learned she’d outed herself to the world.
“I was like oh no…but it was a good moment,” she concedes.
“I was just going to wait literally just five or six more days so that's okay.”
The pic we saw was apparently just one of many, as she says she’s been taking them every week to document the progress of her first pregnancy.
And speaking of the pregnancy, it sounds like it’s going smoothly! The engaged gal shares she’s “very fortunate” to not have had any morning sickness.
Like a true champion, she’s also planning to stay fit throughout and get right back into tennis after giving birth.
“Obviously I'm going to have a baby and I'm going to stay fit and kind of come back and play tennis and keep working on my fashion line,” she details. “That would be really fun."
In the meantime, she’s enjoying her time as an expectant mom, currently taking a babymoon in Mexico with fiancé Alexis Ohanian, from where she penned a heartfelt note to her little one.
