De’Shawn Washington vs Dani Moz: Did Shakira Make the Right Call?
During the Battle Rounds on The Voice, it’s usually coach Adam Levine who commits the major biff of pitting two really great singers against each other, only to have to eliminate one of them from his team. But tonight, Shakira paid the painful price that comes when you may a pairing that’s a little too good, when she let go of soul man De'Shawn Washington in order to keep pop singer Dani Moz on her team.
We were pretty surprised to hear how great their duet of Emeli Sandé’s “My Kind of Love” turned out, since the singers are so different, but not nearly as shocked as we were by the other coaches allowing De’Shawn to slip through their fingers. Though Usher seemed tempted, he ultimately decided he had another singer on his team whose sound was too similar.
We certainly don’t envy Shak for the difficult decision she had to make with this pairing. Both singers gave it their all and could not have given such a high-caliber performance without the chemistry they shared with each other on stage. In fact, we still can’t decide who won that battle. That’s why we’re turning to the court of public opinion. So tell us: did Shakira make the right decision, or should she have saved De’Shawn?
