Life is busy for Latin sensation Shakira, and it doesn’t look as though it will be slowing down anytime soon. This spring, she and Usher are returning to their red swivel chairs on The Voice and, interestingly enough, she’ll be getting mentoring help from Blake Shelton’s wife, Miranda Lambert. Until then, she’s been making some huge career announcements, including the most recent one about her next album’s release date.
The gorgeous singer’s PR team took to Twitter to make the announcement, tweeting, “Get #CantRememberToForgetYou ft @Rihanna - from Shak's new album, coming March 25! - on @iTunesMusic worldwide http://smarturl.it/ShakiraCRTFY?IQid=tw … ShakHQ.”
As Huffington Post points out, this is Shakira’s first English-language project since 2009’s “She Wolf”. And, while she released Sale el Sol in 2010, her most successful album to date is still Laundry Service, which soared to No.3 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album, which featured the majorly popular “Whenever, Wherever,” went multi-platinum.
As for the single with Rihanna, we gave it a listen and we’re not so sure it’s our favorite song … yet. Then again, it could be one of those songs that gets better the more you hear it. There’s no denying that the combination of Shakira’s Latin vibe with Rihanna’s signature sound is quite unique.
It certainly doesn’t matter what we think, as Shakira’s team has already taken to Twitter to let fans know that the song seems to be an insta-hit.
The tweet read, “Just 24 hours after its first play, #CantRememberToForgetYou ft @Rihanna has already hit No. 1 on iTunes in 39 countries! #thankyou ShakHQ.”
Have you heard the single yet? What do you think? Sound off in the comments!
