Shannen Doherty’s Dog Detected She Had Breast Cancer Before the Diagnosis
It’s true what they say about animals — they can always detect when something is wrong.
"She [Bowie] would obsessively sniff right here on my right side for a long time before. So, it made sense when I got diagnosed,” she said to Entertainment Tonight.
The 45-year-old actress underwent a single mastectomy in May and has currently undergone three rounds of chemotherapy since finding out the cancer spread to her lymph nodes.
"When I got back from surgery, [Bowie] was kind of right in this area. Then when I had my first chemo, she would sniff my entire body up and down,” she said.
“She was always protective before, but she has become this crazy, protective dog. It's hard to get close to me when she's around."
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star is positive about the future but recognizes the long journey ahead, as she has to complete five more rounds of chemotherapy and undergo radiotherapy.
Her husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, has been nothing but a rock for her during this difficult time.
"I could not have gotten through this without my husband. My marriage was always strong, but it's made my marriage a thousand times stronger. He's never missed a chemo. He's never missed a sick day."
Our thoughts go out to Shannen and her family during this time!
