RHOC’s Shannon Beador Dishes on How Reality TV Has Helped Her Marriage — Exclusive

The choice to do reality TV isn’t something that should be taken lightly — especially when you have children and a family who will be affected. But Real Housewives of Orange County’s newest addition Shannon Beador says she was confident in her decision to join the rest of the busty blondes from the OC on TV, and — as you’ve seen already in her first few eps on the series — she was really willing to put everything out there.

Wetpaint Entertainment spoke exclusively with Shannon not too long ago, and she assured us that she had no reservations about the process. In fact, her entire family — including husband David, and daughters Sophie, 12, and 9-year-old twins, Stella and Adeline — was “all in.”

“We had a discussion as a family prior to filming, and I said I don’t want to do this if there’s any censorship,” the RHOC newbie revealed. “We’re going to go all in and portray ourselves as who we really are ... So you’re seeing the Beadors with the good and the bad.”

And part of that “bad” was some of the strife she and her husband of 13 years went through in their marriage. However, Shannon said allowing the cameras into their world has been mostly a positive experience for their relationship.

“Being put in situations and having conversations, it’s really allowed us to evaluate our relationship and where we were and where we want to be,” she explained, adding, “I’m very grateful for the show because it’s opened our eyes to a lot of different things — good things.

In fact, Shannon divulged that one of her favorite moments of the season was a romantic getaway she and David took — a rarity for the crazy busy couple.

“My husband is very busy and works quite often so we don’t get a lot of time alone together,” the Housewife admitted. “If we travel, we take our kids because he feels guilty leaving them ...They filmed us going away for a night and we just laughed the entire time. We really connected and bonded. It’s nights like that that really pull a relationship together.”

With all of the marriages that are hurt by reality TV, it’s great to hear that Shannon and David have only benefited from their first year in the spotlight. We can’t wait to see them grow closer throughout the season!

Real Housewives of Orange County airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
