Does Sharleen Joynt Wish She Hadn’t Done The Bachelor? (AUDIO)

The best thing about The Bachelor this season was watching “odd duck” Sharleen Joynt. And performing is only natural for the 29-year-old beauty, who makes her living as a coloratura soprano at opera houses across the world.

But as Sharleen revealed in a recent Washington Post interview, she hasn’t had an easy time of it since exiting the show of her own accord in Miami, on Episode 7. She told her interviewer she had even been turned down for an audition at a mid-level opera house because of her ties to the show.

In a follow up, and more thorough chat with WQXR for the show Conducting Business, Sharleen discusses where she is now, and what’s next. The beautiful Canadian is currently tied to the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, where she’s the understudy for the role of Fiakermilli in a production of Richard Strauss's opera, Arabella, but after that? She isn’t so sure.

“I would be lying if I said I didn't have moments where I said, 'maybe this was a huge mistake,'” the singer admits to host Naomi Lewin. But while Shar claims a “Fear of Missing Out” (FOMO) was the reason she did the show, she also doesn’t regret her sting. “[I]t was a fun experience. I'm a 29-year-old girl. And honestly, the people I met were the best part – the girls in the house, the producers – many of whom I consider friends now. I only have good things to say about it overall."

The entire time she was on the show, she “made a point of not singing,” and “made it very clear” she wouldn’t sing. Still, she did belt out a little ditty in South Korea when Juan Pablo asked her to. “He was really insisting. He wouldn’t take no for an answer,” she explains of her reasoning.

Post critic Anne Midgette also weighed in on the show, adding commentary to her previous remarks about Sharleen’s future. Both the radio host and the writer seem to think that while Sharleen’s appearance on the show was unusual, she has enough talent that it shouldn’t matter what happens next.

The interview is a little long, but definitely worth a listen to find out more about Sharleen’s time on The Bachelor, feelings about Juan Pablo Galavis, and future plans. Check it out.
