Atlanta News Anchor Calls Out Racist Viewer Live on Air For Calling Her The “N” Word (VIDEO)

Sorry to all the Real Housewives of Atlanta, but this Georgia peach wins for best on-air clapback of all time.

A clip from local Atlanta news program CBS 46 is going viral after Sharon Reed, the station's only black anchor, clapped back at a racist viewer who called her the "N" word in a Facebook post.

Best part about the whole thing? She did it live on air.

It all began when Sharon and her two (white) co-anchors began discussing the results of the city's recent mayoral election.

Keisha Lance Bottoms won the election by only 800 votes, but had her competitor, Mary Norwood, won, Mary would've been the first white mayor elected in Atlanta in over 40 years, according to The Washington Post.

Then, Sharon got real in the middle of the discussion about the changing state of race and politics in the ATL.

“A woman by the name of Kathy Rae emailed me. We’re going to put that email on the screen and then I’ll comment after it. I think it’s fair for people to see what she wrote,” Sharon said, putting the racist viewer on full blast.

The email read as follows:

“You need to be fired for the race baiting comment you made tonight. It’s o.k. for blacks to discuss certain subjects but not whites. Really??? you are what I call a N***r not a black person. you are a racist N***r. you are what’s wrong with the world.”

Sharon then defended her earlier comments, saying she never claimed white people couldn't talk about race.

“Quite the contrary, we think that race is an authentic discussion to have. It’s one we’re having tonight because it’s one that you are talking about at home and it’s one that has clearly entered the Atlanta mayor’s race. That’s why, behind the scenes, my colleagues and I — white and black — we decided, hey let’s go for it.”

She continued: “When arguing with somebody you have to be careful not to mischaracterize their viewpoint, so I won’t mischaracterize your view either, Kathy Rae. I get it.

"On December 5, 2017, you think it’s okay to call this journalist a 'n—ger’ I don’t. But I could clap back and say a few things to you. But instead I’ll let your words, Kathy Rae, speak for themselves. And that will be the last word.”

Kathy Rae just got burned!

Both people who watched the broadcast live and those who caught it online after the fact praised Sharon for her clapback — some even made hilarious memes about the whole thing, while others really had it out for Kathy Rae.

Basically, the internet is living for Sharon Reed right about now and we are too — is it too early to cast our vote for her to run for mayor?!
