Now that Pretty Little Liars is on a filming hiatus, its stars have time for other pursuits. Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields) will be lending her celebrity to TeenNick’s fifth annual HALO Awards, a celebration of real-life teens who are “Helping and Leading Others” (aka HALO). Shay will be one of four stars paired with an honored teen. Read on to find out more about Shay’s part in the presentation, and how you can watch her!

According to Zap2it, the HALO Awards will be broadcast live for the first time ever on November 17 at 8 p.m. on Nick at Nite. Nick Cannon is hosting the event and, in addition to Shay, stars Josh Hutcherson, Queen Latifah, and Chris Paul will be helping give out the awards. The ceremony will last for 90 minutes, and will feature an interactive social media lounge, musical performances, celebrity presenters, and “special surprises.” We’re sufficiently intrigued!

Each honoree is paired with a celebrity who shares a passion for their cause. Shay’s partner is 16-year-old Miranda Fuentes from Pembroke Pines, Florida. Miranda has volunteered for the past five years with Surfers for Autism, an organization that uses surfing as hydrotherapy and “helps the kids open up and express themselves in a calming environment.” For her part, Shay works with the Somaly Mam Foundation, a nonprofit focused on combating the global sex slave trade. We’re so glad to see Shay using her celebrity for such good causes!
