Bachelor’s Shayne Lamas Hospitalized, Loses Baby to Miscarriage (UPDATE)

UPDATE (1:34 p.m. PT): Despite reports from TMZ stating otherwise, E! Online denies that Shayne Lamas was ever in a coma. However, the former Bachelor star has indeed suffered a miscarriage and will remain in the hospital for a few days. A rep for Shayne's father, Lorenzo Lamas, tells E!, "She is aware of her circumstances and is breathing on her own."

Meanwhile, Shayne's husband Nik Richie has addressed the situation in a message on his site, The Dirty. "I’m going to take some personal days off from the blogging world," he begins. "Unfortunate things happen to good people. I’m not the best person in the world, but I love my wife and my family. Shayne is my good person. She is my support and my smile. I found you and I never want to let you go. We will overcome. Us 3."

Our thoughts are with Shayne, Nik, and their family and friends.

Devastating news in the world of Bachelor nation. Shayne Lamas, the winner of Matt Grant’s 2008 season of The Bachelor, has lost her baby as a result of a sudden pregnancy complication, and she’s currently in a coma.

TMZ reports the news, adding that Shayne was 16 weeks along in her pregnancy. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that on Sunday, February 9, paramedics were called to Shayne and her husband's Orange County, California home after Shayne collapsed. At the hospital, doctors determined that she was bleeding internally and called in specialists.

The began operating, and Shayne’s child was lost during surgery. TMZ reports that the Season 12 Bachelor contestant is in a coma and unable to breathe on her own. Both her husband and her father, actor Lorenzo Lamas, are by her side.

The one bit of brightness in such heartbreaking news? Doctors are optimistic about her recovery. Our thoughts go out to Shayne and her family. This truly is a horrific tragedy.

This would have been her second child with husband Nik Richie — co-founder of celebrity site The Dirty — whom she wed in April 2010. The couple has one daughter, Press, born in November 2011.
